Piano tapes, sometimes called straps, are little tags that keep some of the inside bits of your piano together.
They’re the little red bits pictured here, and as you can see look a little worse for ware!
So here’s our action on the bench, or movement as some of our tuning technicians call it, we’ve cleaned it up using compressed air so as not to damage any of the delicate bits, and it makes the whole job nice and tidy.
The little tags (tapes) are hooked on to what’s called a bridle wire, we un-hitch these and un-screw the hammers from the action.
